Watch Bella place her vote (sort of) at Dog Beach OB! (Click on the image to download the video.)

We spent the day hanging around Ocean Beach and Balboa Park for Christel's birthday. We spent the night in OB. It was pretty cool being right next to the beach and Bella loved running around in the sand.
$15. Judging from the beats on his site this will be a night of good music.
If you start a software company that has offices like this I will be the first in line with my resume. Make that "software company in San Diego".

| No Chargers on TV this Sunday. What are your options? Either head down to Caliente sports book in Tijuana or a sports bar in Imperial Valley. Or listen to game coverage on KFMB radio (AM 760) starting at 10am. |

Of course you could shell out $34-$72 and head over to Qualcomm Stadium. But its too late to affect the blackout. Games need to sell out 72 hours before kickoff to be shown on local TV. Not that you'd care if you were sitting in the stadium.
"Tijuana Books May Buck Blackout"
The more I'm listening to Signal Path's songs the more I'm regretting that I didn't get off my ass to get to their show in OB.
For the events I didn't list check out the Reader's DJ-related calendar.

I've never heard of Signal Path or Winston's 'til today but the band sounds pretty good. They've got a jazzy electronica thing going on with some soulful guitar work. Extra props for the MP3 downloads available on the band's website.
| Drew Brees gets some well-deserved props from the Tuesday Morning Quarterback. There's even some nice little jabs at Manning and Rivers. |

Best Performance By a Quarterback Who Actually Wants to Be in San DiegoWhile Eli Manning was fumbling late in a Jersey/A loss and high-priced holdout Philip Rivers was comfortably seated on the Bolts' bench, Drew Brees played an almost-perfect game for San Diego. His look-left, throw-right touchdown to Eric Parker, the game-winner, had the silhouette of Steve Young in his prime.

The city’s most talented local designers, vendors, models and DJs will be at Thread, a fashion and lifestyle show. Over 3,000 people are expected to attend the event, which showcases over 50 designers from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Hawaii and of course, San Diego.
Every September 11th I read this photo essay: hi, world. (After the jump make sure you click on the initial picture.)

Singer/songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman (whose songs have been bellowed forth by the legendary vocal chords of those such as Elton John, Trisha Yearwood and Willy Nelson) performs with keyboardist Annie Roboff at the Museum of Photographic Arts during a ceremony to remember the victims of the terrorist attacks three years ago. Visitors are invited to bring a photograph of their loved ones to the current exhibit, Circle of Memory. Two of the exhibiting artists will be participating in the ceremony and the museum will be free for those attending.
6 to 9 p.m. at Galoka Lounge and Art Gallery, 5662 La Jolla Blvd., in La Jolla. 858-551-8610.
...a special event to commemorate the victims of 9/11 and the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a celebration of voices through art. The event features 15 writers ranging from SDSU professors to street poetry gurus. (www.whackjob.org)
Beasties are coming to Cox Arena. Even though its on 9/11 I'll bet they won't say anything annoyingly political. Yeah right.
This goes out to all the tableists: check out DMC's videos of their World Championship competitions. This year's winner, I-Emerge, has an awesome set. He's so good I'm thinking he presses his own vinyl. [hat tip: danceblogga].
"Dance old-school school style". Seems liks a sound clash party, and you can't beat free.
DJ's Dimitri, Ikah, Mario O., Chris, free
Looks like we'll be heading to On Broadway for a night of big club partying. Holla if ya wit me!
For all the drinkers out there: check out this review of different vodkas [Slate]. The verdict? Chopin edges out Roc-a-Fella's vodka by a chaser.
Yes, this is the second post regarding SignOnSanDiego's photos from Street Scene 2004. Get over there and take a look. I just skimmed them and there are great photos of A Tribe Called Quest, Black Eyed Peas, and Dilated Peoples, among others. Kudos to photographer Marc Balanky / SignOnSanDiego. [hat tip to San Diego Blog].
I probably mentioned San Diego Blog before but it definitely deserves repeating. Check 'em out.
