The Fucking Champs

$8-$10
Never heard the music, I just dig this band's name. Bonus points for the great answer to why the name is what it is.

More Mortgages To Be "Conforming"

This post from PFBlog seems especially relevant to buyers in San Diego:

Mortgage funding titans Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have raised their 2005 conforming limit to $359,650, up from the 2004 limit of $333,700.

Most downtown condos are in the high 400k so this is pretty good news for getting the first mortgage to be conforming.

A Condo Supply Blip

"It will take until 2006 for supply to catch up with Downtown demand". That's from San Diego Metropolitan's article on the state of real property in downtown. There's a bit of cheerleading by the author but he does note somethings downtown needs: chuuches and pubs!

There's also a decent guide to housing developments that looks like its kept up-to-date.

I just found another market outlook report from Jan 2005. A must-read if you have interest in downtown real estate.

SD streets worse than L.A.

According to this report, we're third highest in pedestrian fatalities, behind NY and Miami. Well, I'm glad this kind of information is being found out now as the downtown population rapidly grows.

Fahrenheit Construction

east_village_skyline.jpg

There is a webcam on top of the Symphony Towers in downtown that lets us view the progress of the construction of the new Fahrenheit building.

The main white building is actually the Padres Parkade on 10th & Island. Fahrenheit will wrap around it like an 'L'

Check it out live from the downtown webcam. (zoom)

Update: There's a new ballpark webcam that's quite a bit closer.
